Child Care Scholarship Centers

Thank you for your interest in the Greenville First Steps childcare scholarship program. We are committed to providing better access to high quality childcare. Every year, thanks in part to support from United Way of Greenville, Greenville First Steps awards over $200,000 to families in our community. To apply for our childcare scholarships, please follow directions below. *Teen Parents enrolled in Greenville County Schools should call Little Steps at (864) 616-0376 to learn about scholarship opportunities.

Process to apply:

  1. Visit a pre-approved childcare center from the list below.
  2. If you would like your child to attend that center and they have availability, the childcare center director will assist you verifying eligibility.
  3. Complete the client application with the center director. *You will need to bring a document verifying enrollment in one of the qualifying programs.
  4. The Childcare center will turn in application to Greenville First Steps and work with you to possibly award your scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

Requirement 1: Scholarships are only available for participants in qualifying programs: mothers enrolled in the Nurse Family Partnership program, parents enrolled in a pre-approved workforce development (program at SHARE, United Ministries, or Goodwill Industries), and for parents enrolled in a degree seeking program at USC Upstate or Greenville Technical College.

Requirement 2: You must have at least 2 factors from the "Eligibility Checklist" on the application to qualify.

(if you do not have BOTH of these criteria, you will not be eligible for a scholarship)

Please consider the following:

  1. The Childcare Centers on the list will choose to award or not award funding.
  2. You will have a co-pay at the center and be responsible for registration fees.
  3. If you are awarded, you will need to complete forms and a developmental screening within 30 days of your start date.
